Adopt a Family
By Julie M | December 9th, 2009 | Category: Events |Christmas is fast approaching and ’tis the season for giving. This year the school is participating in the Adopt-A-Family Christmas Charity Program. The program assists needy families in the local community.
Period 1 classes have the option to adopt a family. They have been asked to raise money for the family. Some classes are sending cards as well, once they receive more information about the family they are supporting. The average family is a family of four people. Students are invited to ask their families for donations as well.
Smaller classes can partner with other classes if they cannot adopt a family by themselves.
Classes can choose to help a local family or donate to a charity called Chalice, which helps needy children in third world countries. Every year Chalise has a Christmas catalogue from which things like animals or beds can be purchased for children in need. More information about Chalice can be found at www.chalice.ca
Encourage your first period class to get in the spirit of giving this year and adopt a family. Help make someone’s Christmas better this year!
