On Thursday March 15, ten STA students and 2 teachers embarked on the journey of a lifetime: a week-long trip to the Dominican Republic to build a house for a member of the community. The students arrived not knowing what to expect, and what they saw was incredible. They witnessed breathtaking views of the countryside

Rocking to the Rhythms of Air Guitar High
Are you ready to rock? Air Guitar High, although over a month away from go-time, is alive and kicking. Rehearsals are occurring bi-weekly and believe me when I say that they are in full-swing! (As in making sure your arms travel a full swing when air-guitaring, as opposed to a lame half swing). Indeed, the air
The Infamous Fishbowl
Many of us walk by classroom 113 and wonder what exactly it is: is it a storage space? Mr.Dunn’s office perhaps? Classroom 113, a.k.a “the fishbowl” is an oddly shaped classroom, with lots of glass windows, situated in front of the cafeteria. Most of us walk by this room at least once a day while
Have You Met This Kid? Rachel Culver
1. How would you describe yourself in three words? Loud, generous, and friendly. 2. What’s the first thing you would do if you won the lottery? I would buy a Lamborghini. 3. If you could visit any place in the world where would you go and why? I would go to Algonquin Park because I
Halton’s Own Giving Tree
A seed is not potential. It is life that when planted and allowed to grow, becomes life-giving. And the idea that all students should be given the opportunity to achieve all that they can achieve was a seed that sprouted. 5 Red Cars in a Row and Lots of White Noise
Readers, I promise I won’t make any cracks about how long you must have been glued to your seats awaiting the next update on STA’s book club and instead I will just assume that you’re already in the position to be blown away (gather around closely). Brace yourselves… the next book club meeting will be after school
MADD Presentation Drives to Students at STA
On Friday February 24th the grade 11 and 12’s of STA gathered in the gym for the annual MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) presentation. It was an emotional production. By the end there wasn’t a dry eye in the room –myself included. The presentation consisted of a video depicting the story of a high school boy
STA-One Year Later
A year ago, the students of STA finally got their wish. No more would they be the butt end of jokes about crummy high schools. No more would they have to wade through a sea of students to get to the cafeteria. No more would they have to slog through knee-high mud to second-hand portables.
School Blessing Brings Community Together
It was twenty years ago that Perdue Secondary School was dedicated to Saint Thomas Aquinas, and it was on Monday November 14th 2011 that the official school blessing and rededication to our patron Saint took place. Although the old building provided students with a place to learn and grow, it wasn’t big enough to contain
Random Acts of Kindness
Students rushed around eager to hold the door or compliment one another. On Friday, November 4, along with the rest of Oakville, Saint Thomas Aquinas celebrated Random Acts of Kindness day (RAK). Several students received cards at the beginning of the day, working to do random good deeds for others. When the students preformed these
